Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you have an extremely carnivorous chicken. One of my to-be hens, a golden-laced wyandotte is killing and eating Toads and Voles....is this normal...she is very tenacious, she acts like a Raptor Dinosaur when attacking these poor little critters. She is even getting the other hens excited when she catches a critter. I thought it was a little odd when she killed and probably ate the vole, but when she attacked and killed, then ate a toad, then I was worried that I have a unusual and just plain BAD chicken. Is this normal and should I worry about her catching a disease from these wild critters she has a taste for and is there any way I can prevent this from happening? I love my chickens, but I love toads too!
Thank you for your time!

If chickens came nine feet tall they would eat YOU. In fact they once did. Google "terror birds".

Toads, frogs, voles, moles, mice, snakes, baby rabbits, other bird chicks, and many other animals are all tasty hen treats. If they can swallow it whole or tear it into pieces small enough to swallow and it doesn't put up too much of a fight a flock of hens will dine upon it.
