Hello everyone! This afternoon a rather large black snake found a nest of mice. I didn't exactly watch it eat the mother, but I heard lots of squeaking and we relocated the snake but it didn't have time to eat 4 of the babies :( I thought maybe the mother would come back but the poor things have been by them self all day. I checked on them just a few minutes ago and one of mice were missing.
I have never read anything on mice, so I just heated few tablespoons of warm milk up for them. Couldn't find an eye drop syringe, so I just dipped a q-tip in the milk and let them suck on it.

As soon as I put it to their mouths they began hunting for the q-tip and ate quite a lot. Right not they are next to some old plywood boards, in their nest under a big pile of leaves. I know that I should probably just leave them alone, but I keep hearing them cry and I feel awful for them!

They can't be more than just a couple of days old, eyes closed and no fur.

So, should I just leave them be and let nature take its toll, or should I take action asap? Thank you all in advance for any ideas/thoughts. :)

(Btw, I wasn't sure which forum to put this in :p).

Unless you really want to spend a lot of time and effort on pests, i would just feed them to your chickens. Small mammals need to eat about every 2 hours around the clock, and without mom to keep them warm will die a slow death. Faster to just feed them to the hens. Natures way.
