Hi everyone! I live in Plympton, MA on the Carver line. On Tuesday some lowlife dumped two roosters in my work's parking lot. I finally captured them today and brought them home as I was afraid they would get run over plus I was concerned that someone mean would find them as they are quite friendly.

I cannot keep them as I have no coop and no way to house them so now they are prey to the coyotes and other predators. These roosters are quite beautiful and are very bonded to one another.

Is there anyone who has any room for them? They are so sweet but I just can't keep them. I will gladly send pictures of them if you are interested. They are long feathered birds with brown white and black speckles and they have enormous tail feathers that are iridescent blue. Very pretty.

Ive tried sanctuaries and other farms but they all said they couldnt accomodate 2 (and I don't want to separate them).

Please help me find a good home for them! I will gladly bring them to you. Thank you everyone.

Btw I also posted this in the where are u massachusetts thread

Gorgeous!! Why would someone dump such pretty poultry?
Have you still got them?
It's a shame, I live too far. :(

San Diego, California-- needs home immediately!

Today when I went walking in Balboa Park in San Diego with my dog, I found an abandoned Araucana rooster. Clearly someone had just dumped him off in the night, poor guy. He was friendly and approached me even though I had my large dog. Thankfully my dog is a good chicken guarding dog and we have Araucana chickens of our own at home, so they looked familiar to her.

I wasn't even 100% sure it was a boy at first, since it has no spurs, no comb or wattles and no big tail, but assumed it must be since it was abandoned in the park. When I picked him up he started falling asleep in my arms, poor boy. Must have been exhausted from his big adventure. As soon as I got him home (rode home on the seat of my car!) and I got some food and water into him he began crowing proudly, so there you go. Definitely a rooster.
I can't keep him, as rooster are not allowed in the part of the city I live in. I also already have my max quota allowed of chickens on the premises! Anyone interested please contact me immediately, as he will have to go to animal control very soon if I can't find him housing. Of course I know they would euthanize him, but it's better than being ripped apart by an unfriendly dog or coyote in the park.

Update on Rooster Found in Balboa Park, San Diego:
I went on Craig's list, and found a posting by a guy who was looking to take on some unwanted chickens and would also consider a rooster. I contacted him and included the photo I posted here of the rooster in my car. He wrote back and said he'd take him!

So, my husband and kids drove out to his farm in the country about an hour from San Diego, and delivered Gaston (we already named him even though we were not keeping him) to the guy. He seemed like a genuinely nice person, and looked like an actual farmer type. Said he had chickens and that his rooster had died and he hadn't been sure he'd get another one, but liked the look of this one.

What a lucky rooster! Probably lived in somebody's little backyard until now, and within a matter of a few hours he went from being left for dead in the park to living on a farm with his own harem of hens. As my daughter said, we probably found the only person in San Diego who wanted a rooster!

I guess there is always the chance the guy collects free chickens from people who don't want them anymore and then eats them, but I'd also rather Gaston went to the dinner table than to a bad death by coyotes in the park or being destroyed after a terrifying stay in a cage at Animal Control. All in all, I think we have some great chicken karma today!: )

Thats good. I've been watching this post about them, worried. I love taking in rooster but I of course live in ohio! Its oddly hard to find roosters here and its cause everyone kills them the first time they crow. Thats just wonderful and hopefully he will guard his new hens to the fullest! I think that farmer just needs a rooster to protect his flock. That's what I do. Take in unwanted roosters and get them healthy and beautiful and fixed their attitudes because i don't like mean roosters! I just finished with one rooster and I just picked up another project! He is horrible! Lice galore! I also think he is sick. He has scars all over him! He is such a sweetie to.
You guys are great people, should be very proud of your selves!
