abcess maybe

My day old chick has an abcess on her tummy. Well it is under her butt but not on her front side. Is this a problem?

hmm abcess.. on a day old chick. What does it look like? is it red or 'pimplish' looking? Any chance of a picture...? Is it weeping or a solid looking lump?

My first step (based on the limited info) would be to rinse it's little chest off with salty warm water.....
