? about nesting boxes

Do nesting boxes have to be placed in the coop?? Or can you place them on the fence wall in a shaded place outside of coop??? Are you understanding what I am trying to say???

Put the nest boxes where ever you want to.

Keep in mind, though, it's easier to train the hens to use the boxes if they don't have any better place to lay, though - ie if you pen them up in the coop for a few days with the boxes so they get in the habit of using them to lay. Once a chicken learns a habit, it's VERY hard to break - which can be a good thing when training them to lay in the boxes!
