Heya!

I already have 7 bobwhites and I was looking to get some other type besides bobwhite. I have been on craigslist all the time looking for any and a few people have them but they are chick only. Do any of you know of a place where I can buy some teenage to adult sized quail? I know there are some for sale on here but a lot of the places are too far to drive to. I am a middle schooler so I rely on my parents still for transportation.

Anyways, I am near Toledo, Ohio.

Thanks!

Cody!!

Hi Cody,
are you planning on putting these other species in with your bobwhites? As i've told you before that's not a good idea I hope you understand im looking out for you and your birds saying that. Your home for them is good for bobwhites but when mixing that set up is not good for other birds mixed in at all. There will be fights and more than likely deaths. If you're looking to make a new pen for these other quails then that's great!

You know that many people on here sell coturnix.....and button quail. Other breeds you really have to watch with the laws.

Heya Niki. Yes I know that there may be some problems with Coturnix and Bobwhites. If there is a problem, I will sell the Bobwhites or accidentally leave the cage door open! lol

I am looking for Coturnix mainly because you can sell their eggs without a permit and because they are more docile, I've read!

Thanks!

Cody!!

Cody honestly you dont want to do that. You're going to regret it and letting them go is not something to joke about bud. I'ts illegal for one, and for another they may end up just dying not having the instincts to survive you'd be much better to just kill them and eat htem then honestly torcher them like that bud.

I'd sell your bobwhites first and get yourself a bunch of coturnix!

Your birds arent going to lay eggs if they're being attacked by the bobs. Just keep that in mind.

ETA it's also illegal to sell your bobwhites ooor give them away etc. you should probably just cull them. (your parents im sure would appreciate not having a big fine just be careful what you say on here is all im saying..).

Why are you opposed to chicks? Coturnix are adults in only a few weeks so get some chiicks. You realize keeping on the ground will mean you will have to worm and wont be able to sell wormed eggs for eating. I dont think I'd risk putting the together as letting out the bobwhite's won't do anything if all your coturnix are dead anyway.

Good luck

Nancy

I didnt know that they wont lay eggs if their attacked. Hmm. I promise I wont let them out of the cage. I paid good money for them so I will probablymake another cage for them.
Then, next ?---

Do you sell live birds Niki? I wont need a bunch, just around 15 of them. I really missed out on a great deal on Coturnix yesterday. I was up in michigan near this one man's house. He had a guy come by and buy all of his quail from him for $2 a bird! These were laying quail!

As for 15 of them well I always have some youngsters available as im always hatching. Just remember i live pretty far from ya and hubby and I wont be driving anywhere soon. Also remember you've got plenty of breeders in your state

What do you mean there are many breeders in my state? I looked on the buy, sell, trade part and there were a few but they were all in the lower part of ohio.

Cody!!

Just a thought, at the feed store down the road, they will incubate your eggs for you, I think several of the mom & pop ones will. So grab your phone book, call up a few, and see if they offer incubation, then all you need is to locate eggs.
