Hey everyone! Unexpectedly ended up with a couple of bantams, so here I am to learn what to do with them!

From new member suggestion box:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, acquired them less than a week ago.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Two hens.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I've been told they are Old English Game Bantams.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Acroyoga, wildlife rehabilitation, and education/conservation of natural resources.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I also have two cats and a fish. :)

:welcome

Thanks for joining us!

I'm not sure what you mean by learning what to do with them? Are you wanting to re-home them or are you asking if they should be treated differently than larger birds?

Thank you! Neither of those. I posted specific questions in the appropriate (I think) forum. That was just an explanation as to why I joined. To rephrase: I have chickens, therefore I shall learn about chickens, and this is one avenue I have chosen to assist in that goal. ;)

:welcome congrats on your Bantams! I love them. .have a pair of bantam Cochins. But have had silkies as well! They are so friendly! Same care as standards..they are just smaller so you can have MORE of them!!!:celebrate

Hello Kendyr. Welcome to BYC! There is tons of info here and very good people to help you on your journey as a new chicken owner. :)

If you want to get the most out of BYC, I suggest you do the following:
  • For general education, spend some time browsing the Articles link above and possibly the Learning Center. You will find excellent information for both newbies and long-time chicken owners there.
  • When you have specific questions, most of the time a quick search will come up with the answers.
  • If you don't find anything useful that way, post your question in an appropriate sub-forum. People here are very helpful and will answer your question even it has been asked 100 times before.
Enjoy your time here.
