accidental chicks

on september 5th we had one barred rock hatch 2 chicks. we cannot raise them, and plan to take them to the feed store to be distributed to people who will raise them. how should we separate the mom and babies? thanks

She is going to be upset and the babies will cheep pitifully, no matter how you go about it. Are they running loose? If so, take them from her at night and put them in a brooder with a light, food and water until you can take them to the feed store.

What is wrong with just letting the hen raise them?

Is it possible to donate the hen with the chicks to someone instead of separating them? It'll be terrible for her to lose her babies and the chicks will have got used to being with their mom by now.
