5 days ago one of our hens hatched a single chick, we have the hen and the baby in their own coop separate from the rest of the flock. We took the chick inside to clean the chicks butt and when putting the chick back in the coop with the hen, she pecked trying to peck me and accidentally pecked the baby chick in the neck. The incident happened about 1 and a half hours ago and the bleeding to this point seems to be slow. We have put triple antibiotics ointment on it (without lidocaine). The chick is able to walk/stand and sit under the mom and is still pecking around for food. The wound looks bad but we cannot tell how bad it really is. Any tips on treatment to give her a best chance at surviving? I have attached pictures of what the wound currently looks like.

Oh my, it kind of looks like the crop is exposed. I would drip some saline or wound spray on it, and try to put it back inside the skin opening.
Thank you for the advice, we are going to do a good saline flush and see if we can’t get it pushed back in. Hope for the best
