Hi all!

I have a one year old wyandotte that has had crop issues for a few months now. During the first round I treated her with monistat and the cinnamon/ chili powder/ baking soda/ lemon mixture. It seemed like everything cleared up and I gave her a crop bra (her crop is large) and reintroduced her to the flock. Now it seems like I may have reintroduced her too quickly. She has sour crop again. I felt around and it does not feel like it is impacted, but it is slightly doughy. This time I am planning on treating the water in the coop with acidified copper sulfate for a week and then doing a week of probiotics. I also reinforced her crop bra so it is doing a better job now. I am also thinking about separating her from the flock overnight to see if her crop empties at all. Does this sound like a good plan?

Additional question: I have two hens with chicks in my coop, do I need to worry about them getting the ACS water?

Thank you in advance!

It would be best to separate your Wyandotte. You dont want the other birds and chicks drinking the treated water.
Here's a link for ACS mixing instructions. Dont use more copper sulfate than the directions call for. Scroll down to "COPPER SULFATE SOLUTION".

Thank you so much. I already separated her because I was worried- thanks for confirming that was the right move. This morning her crop felt harder and full of food. I don't feel any grass, but I'm getting worried about impaction. Would the ACS help that too?

No, ACS wont help an impacted crop. For impacted crop; dont let her eat and give her alot of water to drink and massaging the crop. You may have to force her to drink, a syringe without a needle and giving her 1/2cc orally at a time is best. Your other option is crop surgery and there are Youtube videos showing how to do it.
