I have read through some of the treads on hatching. I've learned alot from BYC.
pretty much everything i do know came from this community.

This morning at about 9am i noticed all my eggs, six in total all had pips, i think thats what you guys call it when the beak begins to break the shell.
So tonight about 9:30pm i check on my eggs and one chick had completly hatched.
For th last 4 hours it has been running around moving the other eggs. I can hear at least one other chick chrip from an egg.
I've learned from this community that it is not a good idea to pull that chick out because the rush of cooler air will shrink wrap the other eggs.
But this little guy has been moving those eggs all over the incubator.
The one egg with a big enough gap to see the beak was chiping away a few hours ago. not so much now.
At one point the new chick had all the eggs lined up in a row side by side together.
I have been very hands off, only adjusting temp as needed and only opening the incubator to candle at 7,14 and 18.
So here is my main question for tonight.

Leave them be because the chick kicking the others around is normal OR do i need to do pull that guy out and m shrink wrap the others?
Im leaning towards just letting it be till tomorrow.
What to the incubator experts think?

Thanks :thumbsup

Leave them alone. His soccer playing won't hurt the embryos ready to emerge.

It isn't the rush of cool air but the dry air that replaces the humidified air that causes shrink wrapping. When the hatching environment is humid, the inner membrane remains pliable but shrinks and hardens when dry.

Thanks.

9am and 5 of the six are out. :jumpy
One was getting trampled by the rest pretty badly.
Moved the 5 that hatched to the brooder.

90 degrees is my starting temp in the brooder correct?

Also, how do i encourage them to drink and eat?
Im sure there is a thread on that, going to go look. :caf

They will usually drink and eat on their own time - remember their yolk store can last them for days! I usually dip their beaks in waterer once after about 24hrs (from hatch time) so they know what it is and then let them be. If you want to see if they're interested in food, just sprinkle some starter around them and they usually peck at it out of curiosity! Chicks will huddle under the light/heat if cold and try to stay very far away from the heat source if too hot. You want them to be moving around comfortably and choosing themselves to go back to the heat source or to go eat/drink and explore. :)

One thing that took me a long time to learn when hatching is to not watch them hatch. Hard to do the first time because you want to see an learn. My success rate went up when I stopped watching not that watching hurts but watching kept creating impulses in me that lead to opening up the incubator and shrink wrapping those who were just starting to pip. I became successful when I only looked in to take a picture for BYC hatch a longs then left the incubator alone for a full day after the hatch date. But on a first hatch ya gotta watch, right? Just fight the impulses to help them unless its a serious emergency with a very important breed that you may never have a chance to replace.

Sounds great.
I appreciate the help.
Im just waiting on that one egg to fully hatch. I'll keep watching
Thanks

Thanks for the advise
