Activity in 1 week old chicks (White Rocks)

As you can tell from my info on the left, I am somewhat new to the forum and real new to chickens so I still have questions... Speaking of which, how much sleep should the chicks be getting at 1 full week old? They are active however, they also seem to sleep quite a bit. We'll go down to check on them and they will be just laying around. If we "rattle" the brooder, they'll get up eat, drink, scratch and so on, but then when we check on them again, it's all zzzzzzzz's (sleeping).. Is this normal?

They will sleep a lot like that when they're young. They are either dead asleep or running around like crazy. No in between! You may even notice a chick running around, then crash into a dead sleep. That's normal, too. They are just like any other baby.

Ditto! I just hatched 15 babies and they are sleeping a lot or running around chasing each other--no in between. Have fun and enjoy them. Just like all babies they grow up fast.
