I have 5 RIR and 2 Amaracauna and meat bird they are all 8 weeks old. I am wanting to get 2, 8 week old Golden Comet pullets. Is it possible to put them in a separate cage for a day to meet then put them in the coop at night when its dark.... i free range my birds now so i plan on keeping the new birds in the run for a few day i figure. Im hoping i dont have to big of a fight

Welcome!

Chicken fights are no joke, ugh. I would suggest that you throw some stumps or boxes or any type of hiding place/obstacles into your coop with the new chickens. Also maybe extra food and water containers. As long as they can eat, drink and hide they should be fine. :) Good luck!

! Pleased you joined us! I like the idea of how you plan to introduce them but I'd go two or three days before cooping them together. Then, first thing in the a.m. open in up so they aren't trapped together - monitor the interactions - there will be some pecking order squabbles but that is to be expected. Good luck to you!

I put mine out to free range together during the day and then at night put them in a separate pen for a few days. I do a few weeks with mine but I introduce younger birds that I have hatched to my older flock. They get to intermingle together and the new ones will have a place to run and hide until they can establish their order in the flock. I watch mine when they are out and make sure the older ones aren't being to hateful to the new ones. Seems to work well and no real fights have broken out. Good luck!
