I have six hens all about 6months old and full time layers (Rsl's) I am planning on adopting a cockerel about 3months of age.. My main question is will the hens reject him because they were raised with out a too since birth. Also what is the typical noise you get from a roo. We longer on 32 acres and have farmed as neighbors so crowing doesn't matter I want to know how loud it gets. Thanks alec

The rooster will do fine after some growing, integrating a rooster is easy compared to hens, I would pen him separate for a week or two, let everyone have a look than let him out, of course if you are worried about diseases quarantine him. The hens will either chase him for a bit, run in fear, or be happy to see him. As far as the crowing, each rooster is different as far as how loud, and how often so I can't really answer that. They also make all kinds of warning sounds, food call sounds and some sound like a kung fu movie. They have a language that you will grow to understand.
