I currently have seven buff orpington pullets (8 mos old). I am considering adding 5 adult ducks. They would be housed separately but would free range with my girls. My question is this: can ducks be carriers of diseases that chickens are susceptible to? Is a quarantine necessary/recommended? Any/all input is appreciated!
