Hey everyone! I’m about 2 weeks in starting my backyard flock. My goal is to have 4 egg laying hens. I had a bit of a string of bad luck with cockerels. The first 4 I got 3 out of the 4 were cockerels. Got 3 new ones from the same litter (do chickens have litters?) and one of them is a cockerel. They are Brahma mixes that are about 3 1/2 months old. My main question is my friend who has given me these Pullets offered her broody hen that laid on the eggs and walked them around. Do you think I could add the fully grown hen to the 3 Pullets I have without too much fighting? I know typically this isn’t recommended but I wasn’t sure being that she’s the one that raised them if this would negate the territory issues. Looking for general advice.

Chickens have Broods of chicks, & Clutches of eggs.

You can try, but be prepared to make a separate area if things get out of control. Also make sure the younger ones have places to escape if she's a meanie.
