Hi!

Like many of you, I am new to chickens, but I am definitely not new to learning online. When I am not out on the farm (or perhaps I combine the two by taking my laptop out to the pastures), I am teaching online. This gives me a lot of flexibility for farming.

My name is Sara and this is the end of my first year in South Carolina, where I live on my friend's alpaca farm. Well, now it is a 15-alpaca, 2-Muscovy duck, 1 (soon to be 3)-Nigerian/Pygmy goat, a plethora of cats, too many dogs, and now 6-leghorn (brown) and 4-pullet (barred rocks and comets) farm. What used to be a quiet barnyard is now filled with the cacophony of clucking, bleating, and humming (alpacas are great hummers). And I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Just like Oliver Douglas used to say, "Farm living is the life for me!"

I joined this site by way of looking for chickens. It looks like the perfect forum for learning how to best tend our feathered friends.

Looking forward to learning much from all of you!
