Adding Fan to Incubator

Unless you have a very large incubator, this is too much air (more is not always better) and will also endanger the chicks unless you put a guard over it (a good idea anyway).

For the styro incubators (LG, Hovabator, etc) I prefer a small computer fan and a "wall wart" power adapter. The fans run full speed at 12v, but I sometimes run it at 9.6v or lower and they are fine, they just run slower. I also turn off the fan a few hours before they are due to hatch. Since doing that, my incidence of "shrink wrapped" chicks has dropped a lot.

For little bators I use a computer fan like mentioned above. The charger from an older non-smart phone will power the fan, just cut the tip off and connect the wires until the fan goes (if the colors aren't the same).
