I currently have two Golden Comet hens, two New Hampshire Red hens, and a very large French Copper Maran. I previously had Barred Rock hens.

I am looking to add a few more hens to my flock in the near future and was wondering if anyone had any breed suggestions. I am looking for a breed that lays large to XL eggs, can handle confinement well ( in a large coop that should fit about 15-20 hens), or free ranging , is easy to handle/friendly, and is relatively quiet.

I have notices my New Hampshires are fairly bossy, so I'd like to stay away from anymore of those if possible. Ive been thinking about Buff orphingtons, or Cochins but have heard mixed reviews. Any suggestions?

Australorps are better layers than Cochins, but the latter are more docile. The Australorps are friendly but inquisitive, chatty and into everything.

I think both would serve your needs. :)
