Hi!
I have 4 chicks ranging in age from 4 weeks to 6 weeks, I will be getting new babies 8 (1week olds) this week and i'm wondering if they need to be separated from the older babies. What would be the deciding factors on the decision (weight, room, age?).
Thank you in advance!

Yes i am hoping the coop will be completed in a few weeks.
I have 8 one week olds and 2 5 week olds and I would never put them together. I'm almost ready to put the two in with my flock of adults and Pullets. They will be in a look no touch for a few days before I release them.

I will have chicks 4 weeks apart but I will keep the new ones separate from the big ones as the older ones will have a couple of weeks getting ready to go outside and won’t need their brooder warmer then I plan to put the new ones in cage in the big coop for their acclimatisation to outside so the big ones can see and get used to them. Right now If I put baby chicks in with those little raptors they would attack it I’m sure. I’m hoping this works for us. I’m also actually hoping I get more chicks from my current hatch. If not I’ll be buying some day olds From a local place

Ok so would it just be better to keep them separated until i am ready to do the look no touch in the coop setting? As the older ones will be moving to the coop sooner than the young ones.

I would. It's totally up to you though. If the Coop will be ready in a couple of weeks the new ones will be ready to be outside. My 5 week olds are outside and off heat for the past week.

Thank you for your reply! I took the brooder away from my older ones yesterday, they mostly just sit on top of it now anyways. I have also started giving them a bit of outside time which they really enjoyed!
