Hi - We have a small backyard flock of 6 1/2 week old RIRs. We want to add a few more to our flock. What is best?

1. Raise new RIR chicks and slowly introduce
2. Locate RIRs of a similar age (there is a place 2 hours away from us that has 8 week old RIRs)
3. Introduce older hen of the same breed
4. Introduce pullets of different breed but similar age (local place has Ameracaunas).

Thanks for your help! We're new to this and want the best for our current babies.

I doubt the breed makes a difference. Mine are all different breeds and they don't seem to be prejudiced. Since they're still young, you could probably get the amaraucanas if they're the same age... or the younger ones. Either way, you should have a few "meet and greet" sessions before fully integrating them.
