I purchassed the only available game bird feed here locally and it is only 24% protein.
Now what besides adding hard boiled eggs to thediet..... do you folks suggest I start my peeps off when they hatch later this week? I only bought 5 lbs. of this one, as I of course want a higher protein % for my next purchase. I just need time to locate some in the meantime.
TIA

Thanks so much! that makes it easy enough.

Do quail peeps like a soft mash the way chickens do once they get eating?

I just feed mine chick starter crumbles mixed with ground catfood. I use catfood instead of kitten food too, because of the lower fat content.

What do you mean by 'soft mash'? I've never heard this.

Feed with yogurt or some other liquids mixed in to make it soft. I make my chicks soft foods early on for a treat and they dive right into it. I just wondered if quail liked "soft foods" and if I could serve it up.

YES THEY WILL EAT SOFT MASH

They'll also waste a lot less if it is a mash. Why do you need to increase the protein if it's already 24%?? I feed my babies 20% and they do fine.
