Adding single

A couple months ago, my wife was at feed store found a chicken and bought it. Well i've been trying to introduce to my other 3 chickens, everytime i try they all try to peck at her, which i'm sure this is normal. When they are free ranging sometimes they can get close other times they try to get her. I have been having a little blocked off area for her by the other chickens to try to get used to them seeing each other and occasionally i pulled it out to let them try to start meshing, they just seem to constantly peck. My main question is how do I introduce without being to stressful for the single chick? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would recommend you put her in with them at night. I have heard that some people put perfume on the new chicken and all the old ones and then at night put them together! The person also said that it also makes their barnyard smell wonderful. Feel free to PM me with any other questions.

If they've already been together in the day, you'll just have to coop her up for the night with the rest and have them figure out roosting position.

I'll have to try that perfume thing i guess. I just tried to mingle them right at dusk, and when younger chicken walked in older one jumped off the roost and chased her out. So i put the extra cage back in to put youger one in. Thanks for the ideas.
