Hello,

I haven't quite gotten the hang of searching yet, so I am sure it has been asked once or twice before and if so please link me to that conversation... BUT my question is one of my sweet babies (they are about 10 weeks old) is a rooster and as much as I am willing him to be a hen he wants to sing his beautiful cockadoodledoo's and get me in trouble ... no roosters in town... so I am weighing the option of rehoming him and adding a chick(s) to the crew in his place. The other two ladies are about 10 weeks, at what age can I introduce a new little lady to the family? I wasn't sure if I could get away with adding her a little earlier then 8-10 weeks since Frittata and Scramble are still young themselves.

Thank you for your help!

Are there just no roos currently in your town or is it illegal to have roos in your town? How do you get along with your neighbors?

You want to have at least 3 new chicks, so they have a mini flock to be with for the transition to the older flock. Helps them from being singled out and pecked on so bad.

I added 8 chicks to my small flock of 4 pullets a while ago, and it went well even though I did it kind of early. As long as the weather is ok, and the pullets aren’t too far apart in size, you can probably try it. Every flock is going to be different from what I can tell. I’m not sure how adding just one will go though.

Roo's are prohibitted... I spent all morning googling the fine if I get caught with him haha!! I get along with the cop neighbor lol, the rest are on a hey how are you basis!

I am in Temecula, CA - mid 70's at night, high 90's low 100's during the day.

What is the fine? lol Seeing as the neighbor you get along with is a cop...well...that could go both ways but he does have to do his job 😆
