Hey all! After losing my last two ducks to an animal attack back in 2017 I was finally ready to try again this spring. I was given two ducklings by a student at the local college whose family wasn’t home for another two weeks and she couldn’t keep them in her dorm. I thought I was raising a Pekin breed and a Khaki Campbell, but now that they’re at the 7-10 week mark I’ve noticed that Rikki, who is still a little yellow, is growing very light brown feathers. I don’t remember my other two Pekins being so brown during this stage, but I could be mistaken. I just want to know if I’ve got the breed right

Not a pekin. Duckling appears to be feathering in buff/brown.

Definitely not a Pekin. Show us more pictures when he has a few more feathers. He looks a little dark in this one to be a buff.

This duck looks similar to the fawn and cream runner ducklings I’ve seen recently on here (when they’re not bred by breeders who follow the runner standard they have less of an upright stance).
