I think you're misunderstanding that we are trying to point out that the term 'grit' is confusing unless you specify whether you are talking about calcium 'grit' or granite grit.

Exactly... Granite Grit is for digestion. Calcium Grit, or crushed oyster shell, is for laying

Do you have grit? Grit is necessary for chickens to lay. Eventually they will stop laying because of age.

They have grit oyster shell and I give them boiled egg crushed with the shell on for protein and calcium

I know it's not necessary, but it is highly recommended. Grit does help in chicken laying. Check out Becky's Homestead on Youtube and watch her chicken laying videos.

It's very normal. Takes about a month or so for a hen to adjust to a new home and flock. The egg she laid the very first day was already in the works before all the stress of moving happened. She should be laying soon, assuming that she doesn't start molting.
