Hi. My husband bought a couple chickens and 1/2 have white pasty butt. They are supposed to be 18 months. We have them in quarantine from other chickens. Hubby gave them a bath 2 days ago. Pics are from tonight. What is causing it?
How do I treat it?
Is it contagious?
Do they just need a bum fluff trim?

It looks like they have been feather picked, and maybe vent pecked. That can happen with overcrowding, too little protein in the diet, not getting out to free range, boredom, agressive breeds, too much light in the coop and others. Are they eating and drinking well? Give them flock raiser feed 20% protein for awhile, and some crushed oyster shell in a separate pan so they can take some if they need it.

The third pic looks like a normal cecal poop. The white urates continually dripping sometimes can be due to vent damage, or possibly to dehydration or vent gleet, a fungal infection.

I would offer the flock raiser feed, clean water every day, and give them some probiotics in their water several days a week, and see if it helps. Watch for any feather picking, and sometimes using Nustock cream around the vent may help. It tastes bad, hides red skin, is antifungal and antibacterial, and may help prevent picking.
