Well, this is our first time ever hatching, and raising Musocvy Ducklings (we have no incubator *YET*, so Mumis Brooding them). Our current pair, Pogo and Jelly, were 2-3 weeks old when we got them in February- and as such are just not "tame" with people. They know we feed and water them, but they will and do run the other way if you pass the 2m threshold.

Today, 7th November, I managed to take a peek at her nest while she and her man had some 1-on-1 lunch date time. In total we have 9 eggs which look to be developing well ~ incubation began 30th October (so they are 8 days and look good) 🥰

Our goal // Expected hatch is December 3rd, and after the ducklings are fluffy and happy, we will be removing them to raise in a brooder indoors.

Reason 1; our duck house / pen is not duckling proof, and to do so would cost us more than we would like to invest in a Rental Property.

Reason 2; Mum is WILD, she runs, hisses, and has generally bad people skills- we would like these ducklings to be People Imprinted as Pets for families around our town.

Reason 3; It is an amazing experience to include our 2 daughters in (they've enjoyed chook chicks), especially as we hope Mum may attempt a 2nd Clutch before the season ends.

**I'll be adding photos and info as I can, especially if I get some of the eggs development. We only have 1 new duckling so far, and this was hatched by our Pekin Bantam chook Chicky who currently still has her 3 day old baby.

Day 14 - Candling
* 8 of 9 Fertile

Today I patiently awaited Miss Jelly's midday getaway with her man for lunch, a bath, and walk about- Confirmed 8 of our 9 eggs are developing well, while one appears to have never developed / been fertile.

Some look bigger than others, but all have viens and movement going strong. I'll be candling again on Day 21 (nov 20th).

> I did not get photos of every-egg because apparently I missed two 🤦‍♀️

What a fun experience for your daughters! We hatched chicks for our kids when they were little...that was probably 25 years ago! I'm looking forward to following your journey! :love

It's always so exciting to be able to see the development! Hoping for a good hatch! 💞

Well I've not been able to get photos of any candlings as Mama Jelly gets very suspicious very quickly and, frankly, she sscares me more than a little.

Our 8 eggs still look FANTASTIC, and are expected to hatch in 4-5 days. I will be taking photos as they hatch / once they are fluffy as Mama will be removed after 24 hrs and the babies added to a brooder bin.

* This is purely because, as mentioned, Mama scares me- my kids- and we want some friendly Babies who are human imprinted.
Because we are moving soon we may keep 1-2 girls to introduce to Mum and Dad once much older for more hatches in a years time.... I'm still researching if back-breeding daughter to dad is alright...
