I would average it at 25.00 for trio.. If buying from an individual... Now at an auction it depends on who is bidding against you!
I have bought some for as little as 3.00 that are show birds from fairs.......
Some people do not know the difference....
Right now going into winter you can get some really good deals.
Just be sure to have the money to feed and the room to care for them......

$30 a trio is a fair price for top quality birds thats what i charge for mine.
I got my breeding lines from show breeders and top quality breeders not from auctions.
Auctions are not a good place to get quality birds thats where most breeders dump thier culls. Now if your just looking for chickens you can get them at auctions for next to nothing. Beware auctions are full of disease and virus's try to know who you are buying from.

The last fair we went to they had a trio of wyandotte's for 30 a peice for a total of 90 and they sold quickly. The male took first of breed.

Depends on quality...pet, breeder or show. I would sell my SQ black cochins for a minimum of $90-100 for a trio. Believe me, that's not expensive for folks who want SQ birds...whether they show or not.

Think about it. If you bought and had to ship a dozen eggs for...say...$40 (SQ, really good birds)...you would probably get about a 50% hatch. That means 6 chicks which may...or may not be the quality you are looking for. Also, you could get 1 pullet and 5 cockerels....so then you have to get MORE eggs to try and get at least one more pullet!

I think it's a better deal for me to just pay a bit more $$ upfront and have older, live birds the sex that you want.
