I’m back...
Seems this one hen has a weak crop.
She’s back inside the house in a crate. I had her in for 7 days and thought to let her join the girls again after the full monistat treatment yesterday.
I did still feel a small golf size ball in her crop this am.
It was a risk.
And of course it was not a good idea. Her crop was huge and by the am all full of liquid.
And now she’s back in her crate inside.

This first time i went through this I was successful treating her... as I treated her with monistat 7 days and did the watered down crumble with olive oil, yogurt, and wheat germ. Then ACV in her water.
I repeated the same steps this time and not successful so far.
In the am her crop fills up with fluids and I do the crop rub and get her to get out the fluids. Lots coming out and so stinky, nothing seems to be working. She has energy and and seems alive.
I’m syringing olive oil to hopefully break up the golf ball size lump that feels like mailable clay.
Any suggestions as how to get this lump out? I don’t want her to get malnutritioned :( she’s not really interested in eating. Although she’s loving yogurt and scrambled eggs together. Her poop has become super watery today. :idunno

Sorry about your hen. This sounds like doughy crop.

I would try Acidified Copper Sulfate. Must be poultry grade. 1/4 tsp per gallon of water for at least 7 days, preferably 10. She should not have ANY other water source during treatment.

My hen had doughy crop and refused the copper water, so I treated her with Clotrimazole cream twice daily for ten days. It worked. She had been eating lots of feathers and got clogged up.

Do I give her any food with the sulfate treatment?

Yes. Let her eat normally, as she will need nutrition to combat the issue. I also treated my girl to yeast-discouraging foods like meat, egg, yogurt and chopped kale. I took a bunch of kale, cut the rough stems and center veins out, and pulsed it in a good processor so it was finely chopped. She loved it!

Ok. So just use the sulfate in her water as only source of water in her kennel and it’s ok to feed her eggs, and leave some mush with yogurt in there too?
