Hey y'all, so I've been keeping an eye on some of our girls who have had some white patches on their faces, and I believe they have fowl pox. This morning my Wels looks really bad (now has dark lumps), and I think our BR, Barn and maybe the Easter Eggers may have it as well. We have 7 in our flock and it's possible they're all infected. I read about giving them vitamins to boost immune health, so are there any specific products you recommend? We've never had to deal with pox before, so I'm not sure how to go about handling it. I've heard tons of people say there's nothing you can do and it just runs its course... but I hate to see them like this and want to do anything I can to help them! 😟 Any tips/info would be so greatly appreciated! I also have a few questions about the virus: 1) can it be spread to dogs and/or rabbits? 2) Are their eggs safe to consume while they're sick? 3) Can they get it again or is it a one and done type of deal?

There really is nothing you can do. Pox is a virus like the common cold is. You just have to let it runs it's course and keep stress low so birds have a good immune system. If you add vitamins make sure there's also clean drinking water available.

That's what I keep hearing! I just feel so dang bad for them! Thanks :)

It's human nature to want to help. Messing with the lesions can help spread it, so they are best left alone. About you can do is try to keep the mosquito population down as they are the major source of pox, and it's spread.

We've definitely been trying, but with the houston humidity and the insane mosquito population around here it's almost impossible 😩 Do you know if they can get it again?
