Im buying a new bunny this Sunday and Im trying to read up on as much info as I can before hand. Im getting a Netherland Dwarf and I plan for it to be an inside rabbit. I dont want to go too overboard with buying new things for him. Which I tend to do with all animals I get. So what are some things that you think I will need? Beside the normal food, house, and bedding. The bunny is around 2 or 3 months old. Can I get them chew toys now or should I wait? Any other advice you can give me?

Hi Havi, wish you were close to me, I could sell you a baby rex, or a full rex or Holland Lop or a lionshead....No I don't ship.

The rabbit, needs a child proof area, if you let him loose in the house.

They like to chew, so please have a safe chewing stick for them - no apple or chery wood.

I always give horse hay to mine for eating as well as privet hedge (this is great protein source) and regular feed. NO WALmt food it is not high enough in protein - protein needs to be at least 16 %.

They need to rest when babies ....no holding around the clock.

Pm me with any questions or phone me. We love our bunnies...We use their manure on garden - manure tea and straight on the plants.

Have a blessed one!

Oh wow, I wish you were closer. Ive been looking for a lionhead bunny and no one around here has any. I use to have rabbits as a child, but its been so long ago. I have the feed, feeder, water bottle, bedding and was curious what all I could buy for him as a young bunny. I wanted to make sure they were old enough for the chew toys and other things before I made a mistake and just gave them to him. Ive also been told to provide Timothy hay as well. I want to make him tame, but not spoiled. Lol. Do you know at what age they need to be fixed? Ive read in a couple different places different ages. Some say at 2-3 months then others say wait until 5 months old.

Be careful of what you feed your bunny. If it's been eating straight dry pellets, don't give it lots of lettuce or carrots right off. Break it in easy or it will get the runs. If a rabbit gets the runs, it's generally dead within a couple of days. If it does get the runs and you catch it right away, have some oats on hand. give it that and take away all other feed. Oats is the only thing i've ever seen work to dry up a rabbit, but it has to be caught right away.
