ADVICE NEEDED: CHICKEN RAPING DUCKS

Hi All!

My brother is raising two male runner ducks and three wyandottes. He called me in a panic today because his runners have started raping the chickens. Any suggestions for him? Otherwise, I have two ducks ready for soup.

They need to be separated IMMEDIATELY. If not they will seriously injure or KILL the hens.

Ducks rape chickens. Seriously and they do kill them - this I have read over and over on BYC. But I have not had ducks, only geese and chickens.

Maybe next time they could just get females so they don't have to worry about mating?

My runner drake went through a short period where he kept trying to mate a gander. It was so silly. Would not have been funny had it been a hen though. He really needs at least 4 female ducks for the 2 drakes or get rid of or separate them from the chickens.
