hi everyone im new to incubating egg and to the whole chicken scene i purchased of ebay a BRINSEA INCUBATOR OCTAGON 20 DIGITAL PL2-2 for £35 im from the england btw lol is this a good reliable incubator as i know this model is a bit old.
In general all Brinsea incubators are good and reliable. As your model is a little older I would double check the temp readings from it and make sure it's had a really good clean before setting eggs.
Running it for at least 24 hours before setting eggs would also be advisable. Did you get a manual with it?
hi thank you for the reply yorkshire coop i was told i can download the manual online as brinsea still do the manual will do a good clean also i found a brinsea mini eco for £40 on ebay not sure if this is better or a good price then the one i got. heres a pic of the octagon digital 20
That's a good price for both of them if they are in good working order. The mini only holds about 7 eggs though so if you are wanting more chicks it may not be the way to go but £40 is still a good price for it. My octagon 20 advance EX and humidity pump was about £300 so you have a good bargain there with your 20 even if it's older.
thanks for the manual could you recommend me a good digital temperature reader with probe so i can accurately measure the temperature and humidity of the incubator
