I have a male pig that was born around 2/20/21. Everything was fine with him until yesterday morning. I went out to feed like normal and noticed he had a limp. He is favoring one of his front legs. I got in the pen, looked and felt around. Nothing unusual. I went and got some food from the house and crushed up some Tylenol went back and made sure he'd eat it. Figured the anti-inflammatory would be beneficial and honestly couldn't hurt. Went out to run some errands hoping to come back and he'd be moving around better. Well no, he isn't. So I got back in the pen reevaluated him and still nothing. No abnormalities to the bones, no noticeable swelling, no cuts, no injuries that I can see.... I went ahead and gave him a shot of penicillin and am waiting it out and will see how he is in the morning.

Today he is walking around but only when I go into the pen or put food out for them. He is eating/drinking. But still favoring the leg and not putting weight on it, just ever so slightly touching the ground with it.

I have NO access to a farm vet. I have had issues with needing one before and noone around here will see those animals so I am on my own here. I need any and all treatments and ideas especially if you think I should do or try something other than what I am trying.

I appreciate the help! Thanks :)

You are doing the right thing. It is either an injury or an infection. Time will take care of the injury and penicillin will take care of the infection, if any. When you give penicillin for any reason, be sure to give it for a full five days.

Thanks. We have had pigs for awhile now but have never had an injury like this so wasn't sure if there was something else I should be doing or not. Appreciate your time!
