I am currently hatching duck eggs under broody hens,
There are 8 eggs and so I allowed 2 broody hens to share the job so to speak - they are both in the same coop (separate from the rest of chickens and ducks).
Day 28 is 22.5.14
Noticed 3 of them pipping today when i got hens out for food etc (and some cheeping sounds).
Am excited but I am concerned that as they hatch the 2 hens will fight over the ducklings and possibly harm them (as they have swapped eggs to and fro between them).
Am I right to be concerned and should I quickly separate the hens - perhaps putting the pipping eggs under 1 and leaving the rest under the other???
Any advice gratefully received
Many thanks
Kyla
