Advice on breeds for a newbie please.

HI, I live in Maryland. I am looking for some advice. Will be purchasing pullets soon. I am interested inthe following traits: Brown Eggs, hopefully docile nature and not to be too broody. Out of these breeds what is the best for those traits in your opinion or experience: Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, Speckled Sussex, Buff Orpington, Lavendar Orpingtons. I am looking to have 8-10 chicks. Thank You

Are those the only breeds available?
I enjoy my Sussex, I've never had one go broody and they're known for being friendly. The eggs are more of a cream/tan but none of those breeds lay the dark brown, if that's what you want.

Yes only breeds available. Its crazy how hard chicks are to obtain right now. I think I am going with the Sussex, Barred Rock, and Rhode Island Red.

So far, the only broody girl I've had is my Jubilee Orpington. 4 times last summer.

It is. It's late in the ordering season to begin with and then with the everyone panicking
