I have a young silkie that has been separated from the rest of the flock for about 2 weeks. She had been seriously injured by the other chickens (literally scalped. They ate her head-skin!) so I have had her in a dog crate while she heals. We are going to build a separate coop for her but I don't want her to be alone. She is so darn sweet and follows me like a dog when we are outside together. She seems to want a companion.
Here is the question: Can I take one or two of my chicks from the other coop (about 7 weeks old) and put them with her? Will they stay with her or will they try and go back with the original flock? If anyone thinks this will work, how do you suggest I go about it?
