Advice on feeding 🐣 chicks

I would stay with a commercial chick starter until they are older.

If they were with a mother hen, she probably wouldn't offer them greens as a first choice. Since you are probably aren't going to scratch up tiny bugs for them, I would go with mother hen's second choice, chick feed (which is ground-up grains with vitamins and grit added).

if you want to give them a treat, the best thing to give them would be a clump of sod from the yard where they will be living when they're put out into their coop and run. They will scratch through that and pick out little stones and pick at the grass. It helps build their immunity to the organisms they will be exposed to when they go outside.
