Was there a packing list when the chicks arrived? Was the order placed online, so you can look at an email confirmation? Do you know which hatchery?

He said he ordered from hoover hatchery and got a rare breed assortment. There was no list in the packaging

Probably this:
https://hoovershatchery.com/hatcherychoicerare.html

From the list of breeds there, these are the ones I think are possibilities:

First photo, I'm not sure because the red light is making it hard for me to see what colors the chick has.

Second photo, black with feathered feet:
--French Black Copper Marans
--Midnight Majesty Marans, female only (male would be barred)
--Black Cochin

Third photo, lighter colored with feathered feet:
--Salmon Faverolles (if it has muff/beard making the face look fat--I can't tell in the photo)
--French Wheaten Marans (if it does not have a fat face)
--Cochin, but I don't think it's either Buff or Partridge, and the only other colors they list are black and blue.

Fourth photo, blue (dark gray) with clean legs:
--Blue Andalusian
--Sapphire Olive Egger

You can also look at this page:

It's got photos of lots of breeds of chicks, meant to help in cases like this!

So I have 2 of those. The 3rd pic looks like a brahma and the 4that pic is a lavendar orpington. I also got mine from hoovers hatchery
