This is a one-day-old cream legbar, hatched one day late, it cannot walk at all as you can see in the video he just rolls onto his side. If I force him upright he slides forward on his chest, won't support his weight at all on either leg. If it is spraddle it is only one leg. I have him in a chick chair made with a dust mask and a baby formula can for now, had to rebrace his legs through the chick chair because he kept pulling back out of it! What exactly does a slipped tendon look like if that's what this is? His hocks look fairly even, I can't see a difference. I will get some Poly-vi-sol today to start giving him extra vitamins in case that's what it is. I can get him to drink a little but he won't eat yet, I won't be concerned about that until probably tomorrow. Any suggestions?

It was sad to hear you lost this one, but it is probablly for the best. It sounds like all the remaining chicks from the hatch are strong and healthy. They will build a stonger flock. Good luck with the Cream Legbars. It will be fun to compare notes further down the road.

Steen in New Mexico has four cockerels and six pullets from the the same pairing as you, so you have nearly identical starts. he has told me he favores the darker plumage on the hens. I favor the the ligher plumage. I am sure between the three of us and others that will have chicks from from these parings that we will see many directions taken on the selection.
