I just got done processing the last of my turkeys (broad breasted bronzes), and on two of them in the thigh while gutting them I found what almost looked like a piece of intestine (couldnt find where it was attached though) going through the meat not in the body cavity. I accidently cut into the one and it had a very nasty black substance in it. I am almost thinking it might be some kind of tumor or growth. My questions are: 1: Does anybody know what it is? 2: Does it affect all of the meat in the bird? (I cut up the bird after this instead of leaving it whole and checked the rest of the meat, it all looked fine but I have it in a separate bag just in case) 3: If you are familiar with this, is it just related to BBB or all turkey breeds? (I plan to do heritage ones next year so I can keep a breeding pair around) All input is much appreciated.
