I have a female duckling and we're keeping her inside right now in a plastic storage tube but soon she will be able too jump out plus it smells even with daily cleaning, what are some option for outside housing? Would a chicken coop work? Are there any for under 100$ ? And if I build one where are some sites I can find some easy directions.

Chain link dog kennels are affordable, compared to most things anyway. I love mine. One of their best features is that they're easily movable and you can easily add on to them to make them bigger.

You can find them on craigslist for cheap but then you have to make them predator proof. Which means hardware mesh around the sides (it only needs to be 3 or 4 ft up the sides, it prevents raccoons from reaching their hands in and tearing the ducks apart, plus I've heard of at least one duck that got badly injured when it got its head/neck stuck through the chain link), a sturdy roof and pavement stones or wire buried around the bottom to prevent predators digging in.

I agree! I use chain link panels. Easy to add on to also if you get more ducks. I use chicken wire around mine (double layer) but only bc I had it on hand, going to upgrade to hardware cloth. A simple dog house with a secure door also could work for a house.
