Quiet a few people on here know that I have wanted scovies for like.... EVER! Wel at least for the past year. Well no one in the south has them so I fialy gave up a little bit. WHile selling my ducklings at the fleamarket today I set up with this really nice bunch of men who were also selling livestock.

One comes up to me and says he has a ducklings for $3. Says that its the only one that hatched and he has been keeping it with the chickens. I asked what kind and he said it was a MUSCOVY!! I was so excited!!!

So I fially got a Scovie

Problem is it was picked on by the chickens and is kind of .. weak? Its underfed and its nose was blocked I had to clean it out with a piece of pinestraw. Then when we hold it it sort of extends its neck alot - but is fine with being held. It has a few bald spots.

HERE is the thing though. The guy tried to tell me it was 2 weeks old. The duckling fit in the palm of my hand! The ducklings I was selling are two weeks old and they needed both hands to hold and are quite a bit bigger. The scovie looked to be only a few days old yet he swore it was at least a week. ILL POST PICS. Im hoping it is a choco since it has a brown head. Problem is it has the mallard baby coloring and im not a huge mallard fan.

Mind posting pics of your two week old scovies?? I want to compare sizes.

Here are some photos of my Scovies at 2 weeks old. When these pictures were taken, they were about 6 inches long, and barely fit in my hand anymore. Enjoy your Scovie baby, they grow SO fast.

These are the same Scovies at 10 weeks old

Yours are SOOOOO Pretty!!! Looks like mine will be black and white then ( mostly black) . SInce yours had brown heads but are now black. Mine has a brown head but it is darker than yours were.

The "older" ducks are picking on him a little but im sure that once he gets some food in him he'll fight back

Just keep an eye out for that little one, you dont want him/her to be too picked on. Is there a place that your duckling can go to hide from the older ducks?

Ive never integrated ducklings in with older ducks, so I'm not 100% sure as to what would work best.

I still can not believe how quikly they grow, it seems like just two weeks ago they werestill easily picked up... lol Not now though, I picked my drake up the other day and WOW is he heavy. He has to be at least 12/13 pounds already, my girls are about 9/11 pounds. Keep in mind that they can fly, the lighter girls have a much easier time getting up off the ground than my drake does though. He is kinda lazy, lays around most of the time, and wont flap his wings more then three times in a row. They have been a blast to own and raise.

Thanks you guys! Im trying to find a USB cord that works, lol. My camera is still broken so I am using ny DGM's.
