Age of laying???

While I am not a Call person (I have runners) it seems laying time is a combination of age and hours of light and temperature.

Some people report that their ducks (various breeds) that mature late in the year wait until the following spring to lay.

Have they been displaying any mating behaviors (jumping on top of each other, for example?) Mine started that about a month before they began laying.

What's your drake to female ratio?

My ducks have been jumping on each other for months. The goose I had as a kid would start laying in February, so that is why I asked. I have never delt with calls before.

I have 2 drakes and 5 females, a pic is in the magpie call duck thread.

Thanks!

My drake ducklings have started their mating behavior at 10wks old already, so yes it could go on for months, mom and dad acted that way for months as well, but she didn't start laying until she was 20-22wks old, but they are Rouen/Runner mixes, but typically from what I have seen in my own ducks and heard from others and read my female was right on time with age. So I'm going to expect my duckling girls to start laying within the next 8-10wks already. I have 11 ducks total, 3 males, 8 females.
