I bought a home a year ago that “came with” 3 free ranging ducks. One male Peking, one female Peking and one male (young) Khaki Campbell. They seemed to get along fine until about a month ago. 2 very young male mallards showed up too and tried to join the flock. The 3 senior ducks personalities have changed - against each other - not really toward the mallards. The female Peking and the Khaki Campbell fight constantly. She even has missing feathers from her neck. But she also is bigger than the Khaki and holds him down at times but they are always beak to beak / chest to chest. The Khaki also fight the male Peking. He seems depressed. His eye is injured and is not being allowed to eat. I thought things would get better but I’m not sure that it will at this point. Any idea why this is happening or suggestions as to what I can do? They are not “tame” as in I can hold and let them but they do come in the yard to eat and hang out when called. I’m thinking I might have to rehome the Khaki. Please. Any help is appreciated.

You are probably right. I wish I could. However, I live in a subdivision in the city (Charleston SC) The previous owners bought the 2 Peking’s as babies and put them in the pond behind the house. Irresponsible yes - but they have been here their whole lives. The Khaki showed up in July of 18 and the 2 male mallards a month ago. The neighbors do not like all the ducks (and geese) that are around now so I don’t think introducing more females would be accepted (and definitely is against HOA)

Khaki's are domesticated ducks so someone had to of put them their. Did you not check them to make sure they aren't sick? I think separating one drake would be fine, listing him on craigslist.

This is a picture of the two males earlier this summer in my back yard

The previous owners assumed someone put him on this pond summer of 18. I did hold the male Peking yesterday and check out his eye and weight. I am concerned about him. The others seem in good health. Is it safe to list on Craigslist? I’ve never had ducks before moving to this house - much less tried to rehome.

That is where I sell my ducks, I put them on the farm&garden topic. I'm sure he'll be fine and happier with more hens.

Very pretty, how are they doing now? Did you buy the khaki? do they have a coop?
Thank you. They are all beautiful. The aggressiveness has me worried and is starting to take a toll on the Peking male. No unfortunately no coop. They free range. I do bring them on the screened in porch when a hurricane is on the way.
