Hello! I’m brand new to this online community but have been following the site over the past few years. So I began raising call ducks a few years back just in the way of having them for pets. I’m not a professional breeder of specific types of calls. My question today is that I have ten calls right now ranging from around six weeks old to a couple years old. I have a male pastel who will not leave the young girls alone - who yes, are his own. He is attacking one young female and now the ones that are about about six weeks old. I’ve tried separating him. He is the only adult male I have among the nine other ducklings/ducks. He has an established mate, but is now being so aggressive to the young ones. I’m fearful he is going to hurt them. I’ve had to kennel him separately so the girls and babies can roam the yard peacefully. How can I help everyone to live peacefully? Thank you!

Thank you for your reply!
I had 4 adult male Call Ducks. I ended up rehoming 2 of them and now I have another pair I got as ducklings and one is a Hen and one is a Drake. They seem to be notorious for wanting to mate the girls. Mine chase my Khaki Campbell around to no end to mate with her. I have Mallard hens but for some reason they like my Khaki Campbell girls the best. Since they are small though no damage has been done to them. My Pastel that I got in March is the Drake along with a Hen of the same color that are separated from the flock because of being young yet. Hopefully he will not be as sexually active as my other two. I have 16 Hens but only one of them is a Call, the others are all bigger ones that they could chose from. Someone called me last night offering me Call Ducks, 4 drakes and 2 hens, I said Thanks but No thanks. lol

I would definitely keep them separate, sadly we have lost 4 of our beloved females to make aggression during mating season, better safe than sorry!

I have Calls also and would never let my two males near my one that I got in March as a duckling that is a female. She is with the male that I got with her but will not go with the rest of the flock until I rehome my three bigger drakes and is 5 months old. When they are younger they can be hurt severely by drakes no matter what the size of them. I would surely separate the one drake you have that is bothering them before he hurts them. Good luck with your situation. Those Call drakes can be feisty little boogers.
