Hello all! I have a small backyard flock of 3 that I've raised since they were ducklings. I originally had 2 pekins but one passed and I got 2 other ducklings to make sure the other was not lonely. I originally only had permission from my landlord for 2 but given the circumstances i was allowed the 3 but no more. The two ducklings were what i was told to be a silver appleyard and a black Swedish. I had believed the SA was a female and the Swedish was a male but both turned out to be drakes. And they both turned out to be muscovies. Regardless of the misinformation, all 3 have lived happily together for 7 months now.

However, my youngest drake has been very aggressive recently. He has attacked both other drakes numerous times, scratching ones eye so bad that it swelled shut. I have him separated from the other 2 now. I've read that sometimes the only option is rehoming but I can't bear to do that. These lil guys are my family and I couldn't imagine not having all of them around. Does anyone know of any ways to stop this. This is only a recent development and I'm hoping that I can help change this behavior if I act soon enough.

Your drake is coming of age and starting to enact his dominance. You may need to keep them separate permanently. If he is injuring the other duck that bad, it probably will not work out. Their breeding season is practically all year round, so you can't just sperate them during the breeding season. If you try and rehome him, you may have a hard time, especially a very dominant male muscovy. It is still worth a try, but you may need to be prepared for other options.

I hear muscovy is a delicious bird. Only one male per flock, and make no mistake that includes you when it comes to being the alpha.

My Muscovy drake was not a nice drake from March until now. He has mellowed out alot since the beginning of mating season. But I only keep 1 Muscovy drake because when I had 4 they all had to have their own private part of the half-acre we have fenced, I also have a Runner drake which my Muscovy totally ignores. But if i was to bring in another Muscovy all Heck would break out. If you can set up a fenced space for the one these drake has zeroed in on especially if you don't want to rehome or eat. That would be best.
Or put the aggressor inside a penned area so he can't hurt them. Many on here have to put their drakes in drake jail over breeding season so actually this is not that much different except these are all drakes. My Muscovy drake and my gander would fight so i had to keep the separated during mating season.
