Aggressive production red.

Show her you are the top hen.

When she comes after you, grab her and hold her to the ground, so that both your hands are over her back. Make her stay. Be sure not to hurt her as you do this and say nothing.

Hold her for several seconds, then let her go. Do this every time she tries to peck you or pounce on you.

She needs to be shown her place in the pecking order. A hen will NEVER allow another hen to peck her without standing up tall and trying to peck back unless she is lower in the pecking order.

I have cured hens of this problem by doing this. Some hens are aggressive and try to challenge us, while others aren't.

Even to this day, if one of my Buff Orpingtons pecks my leg or finger (not the kind little peck that means they are your friend that is more of a tap tap tap) I reach out and "peck" her on the shoulder with my fingers.

My flock knows that I am the top hen and I won't put up with nonsense. But I am always careful not to hurt them!
