I have a large white roo who is becoming a real jerk. He bites me very hard, he chases me, he jump at my face. He also attacks other people and I'm not sure how to make him stop. I've tried spraying him with water, yelling and shoving him with my foot but they all seem to make him worse. He leaves bruises all over my legs and I don't even touch him, I go in simply to check on the rest of the chickens or to let them out and he circles me and when I try to move he attacks. He also only attacks me when my boyfriend is not there. I don't want to have to get rid of him but he's already killed another roo and he may be a threat to my infant cousin when he begins walking around outside.
Please help.

He is asking to be invited to supper.

Chicken and dumplings.

Get rid of him-too many nice Roos out there that need homes.

My kids know that the Rooster makes the decision on his future.

got a barred rock waiting for saturday to meet the knife He has mistakenly decided he is alpha rooster.most bad behavior in roosters is genetic. I don't want those genes in my flock . So any aggressive rooster is eaten. solve the problem every times

If your not wanting to re-home or stew him- this is what I do (and have read about here on BYC) Anytime my roo even LOOKS like he's gonna pull attitude with me or my small kids, I stop what i'm doing and go after him till I catch him. Then I hold him upside down by his two feet till he stops flapping and trying to peck my hand. I really wait: he has to totally relax and drop his head before I slowly cradle his head in my other hand and I gently bring him right side up and force him to let me hold him against my side and cart him around the yard for awhile. I do that even when he's not being weird, just to remind him who's boss. My 5 year old son does it too. Our roo must know who is in charge or someone could get hurt. If my 3 year old cant pick him up- then he'd have to go. He's Jersey Giant, so he's gonna be bigger than average roo's, so he has no choice- be good or be gone.

But as another poster said- There are way too many good nice roo's out there to put up with a nasty one.

Good luck.

Mean roosters make lovely soup. We have zero tolerance for ill-tempered roos.
Of all the roosters that were ordered in our last batch, the "packing peanut" Buff Cochin was the only one that we kept. What a gentle giant! There are too many good roos out there to waste your time on Mr. Nasty!

I don't want to give him away or kill him because I love him.
I'm hoping there is a solution. I have everything on this site and I have tried most of the suggestions. I haven't tried picking him up by feet because he is extremely aggressive and he attacks at any slight movement and once he starts he wont stop until he gets distracted.
He used to be sweet and very quiet until he won a fight with another roo and became "king".
If he dosen't show any improvement soon we are going to give him away because we don't want him to kill our other roo.
